Marist Mercy Care’s Place of Mercy and Hope is a collaborative effort between the Marist Brothers, Sisters of Mercy and Lay Person’s in the Sundays River Valley, Addo, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
The program assists hundreds families who are from incredibly disadvantaged communities, with a specific focus toward children.
Our program cares for a Baby Care and Toddler Centre (over 20 children), Creche’s and Pre-School (over 160 children), Clinic (Home Based Carer’s and Medical Doctor helping hundred’s of families), Feeding Scheme’s (distributing food to hundred’s of children and adults a week), Adult Learning programs (teaching computer skills to 300 pupils annually) and Youth Empowerment Projects (caring and empowering for over 400 children).
The Place of Mercy and Hope work extensively with children that have been abused and those that have HIV/Aids, Tuberculosis, Cancer and other common South African illnesses.
The Directors’ of the Place of Mercy and Hope are Sr Martha O’Connor, Sr Breda Ryan, Jason Grieve, Clare Losty and Marisa Woolley.
