The sole purpose of this\u00a0programme\u00a0is to offer tech tools to NGOs that can help in eradicating gender-based violence.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the month of October 2019, we launched weekly TechClinics\u00a0for local nonprofits in Somerset West and surrounding areas around the subject of GBV.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>TechClinic<\/strong> <strong>&#8211; Week 1\u00a0<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Topic of Discussion: Digital Advocacy Campaign Building.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This discussion was help at the\u00a0Phambano\u00a0office in Somerset West on the 8<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of October 2019. Di hosted the discussion and gave resources and practical training on how NGOs can create Digital Advocacy Campaigns.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Top Tips from the TechClinic:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Know your existing audience and those you want to reach\u00a0<\/li><li>Know where your campaign audience hangs out online and understand the tools available to do the research\u00a0<\/li><li>Select the right Social Media Channels to engage with your specific audience\u00a0<\/li><li>Be specific about your goal &amp; stay focused, sending the right message so that your audience will stay engaged\u00a0<\/li><li>What is your \u201cCall to Action\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>TechClinic<\/strong> &#8211; <strong>Week 2<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second TechClinic was held in Somerset West on the 15<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of October 2019 and centered around a discussion on how we can interrupt the cycle of gender-based violence. Big thank you to our guest speaker\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/hopehouse.org.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Judy Strickland from Hope House Counselling (opens in a new tab)\">Judy Strickland from Hope House Counselling<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0for educating everyone that was present on these topics:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The strong association between exposure to violence and the use of violence by young adults illustrates that violence is a learned behaviour.\u00a0<\/li><li>More prevention programming is needed, aimed at the younger generation so that we don\u2019t have to continually be doing intervention programming to fix the problem.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>NGOs working in communities need to know more about GBV and the root problems so that they can meet the needs of the communities they work in with the right resources.\u00a0<\/li><li>Telling your story is powerful, but it needs to be done in a safe environment where privacy is respected and kept.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>TechClinic <\/strong>&#8211; <strong>Week 3<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The third and final #Tech2EndGBV\u00a0TechClinic\u00a0took place at the\u00a0Phambano\u00a0Office in Somerset West on the 22<sup>nd<\/sup>\u00a0of October 2019. The topic of discussion was:\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Turning your campaigns into Rands<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our very own Samantha Barnard shared with 7 NGO\u2019s present, the importance of attracting donors through GBV Advocacy campaigns; the correct Social Media channels to use and how to always keep campaign goals in mind.\u00a0\u00a0Samantha also touched base on the following:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The importance of having a website &#8211;\u00a0funders look at websites and read blogs.\u00a0<\/li><li>Always keeping your beneficiaries safe online when telling stories or sharing pictures \u2013 especially children\u00a0<\/li><li>Funders want to see \u201cgood news\u201d stories and not images that are unsettling.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She also shared her knowledge on how NGOs can use social media platforms to effectively engage with their audiences.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like\u00a0the previous two\u00a0TechClinics, this one was a huge success and well received by those in attendance. One of the attendees had this to say:\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cI attended two of the &#8216;Tech2end GBV&#8217; workshops at\u00a0Phambano\u00a0this month.
