UNESCO, Man and the Biosphere (MAB) program registered it in December 1998 as the first Biosphere Reserve in South Africa. The Kogelberg Biosphere works with numerous stakeholders within the area to bring about effective management of the natural heritage and resources found within the Biosphere. The vision of the Kogelberg Biosphere is \u2013 \u201cthe Cape Floral Kingdom\u2019s model sustainable living environment for all\u201d.
